“May the Force Be with You!” Star Wars™ Weekends at Walt Disney World

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from May 15 through June 14, 2015, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will host a celebration of Star Wars.  Join host James Arnold Taylor and your favorite characters for a new adventure in the park!

Highlights of the weekends’ festivities include:

• Autographs with the stars

• Galactic Breakfast with your favorite characters at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

• Jedi Training Academy (for kids ages 4-12)

• Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Hollywood and Vine (Mickey and his pals dress as Star Wars characters)

• Summon the Force celebration and Symphony in the Stars nightly fireworks show

• Limited-edition merchandise at Darth’s Mall

Take a ride on a Starspeeder 1000 in Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, a 3-D motion simulated experience, where you will encounter a unique adventure created from more than 50 possible storyline combinations.  Visit distant destinations and hear more about the characters in the Star Wars galaxy in an immersive experience that will make you feel like you’ve stepped into the movies!

The most dedicated fans will want to attend the Galactic Gathering, a special event held on Thursday, May 14, 2015.  Declare your allegiance with either a Rebel or Empire Graphic MagicBand, get a Light Speed Pass for priority entry to Darth’s Mall for all 5 Star Wars weekends, and look for meet and greets with Ashley Eckstein of Her Universe and Disney artists and characters.

Special Star Wars themed merchandise, food, and beverages will be available throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios every weekend.  Many fans dress in costume for this event, so be on the lookout for some great impersonators, and feel free to get in on the fun.

Why to Plan Your Disney Trip Early

It’s cold outside and many states have a blanket of snow on the ground. Despite your gloomy view from the window, now is the best time to start planning your summer Disney vacation! Here are some reasons why:

Villas and resorts fill up quick!

Unfortunately, your summer vacation isn’t a unique idea. There are many other families out there looking into the best Disney vacation. This means that resorts and villas fill up quickly! It takes time to decide what you want and what works best for your family. Instead of rushing, start searching early. Your search will be more relaxed and you’ll find something that really fits your parties’ needs.

The more thoroughly you know your ticket market, the better.

When is the best time to buy your plane ticket? 1-3 months prior is generally a safe point. However, it really varies on when and where you are going. The better mindset to have is to actually understand the market for your exact trip. This sounds difficult, but really it’s not! As soon as you choose your resort and the trip dates, start watching ticket prices. Search your flight on different airlines and get a feel for what’s a good price, what’s not, and when are the better days to fly. Continue to check back frequently and you will see prices going up and down. Since you’re familiar with that specific flight’s price range, you’ll know a good price when you see one! When you find one, don’t delay – great fares usually don’t last too long.

Calling All Baseball Fans! Spring Training with Disney

Baseball is the great American pastime, and what better way to celebrate your love of the sport than with a trip to Spring Training?  The Atlanta Braves will be holding their Spring Training at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex from early March through early April this year.  Here of some of the highlights you can expect to see as the Braves play against other teams in the Grapefruit League.

Meet the Players.

Unlike during the regular season, spectators have more opportunities to interact with the players during Spring Training.  This is not just an event for Atlanta Braves fans.  Check out the schedule to see when they’ll be playing one of your favorite teams.  Then pack your gear to get an autograph (and don’t forget your camera)!

See Special In-Game Entertainment.

It wouldn’t be a Disney vacation without an appearance by your favorite Disney characters.  Look for Mickey in his Atlanta Braves uniform, and watch for other characters on the field and in the stands.  Disney brings a little of their own special magic to each game.

Get Out on the Field.

To make the game even more memorable, kids get the chance to come down to the field and run the bases before the end of the evening.  They’ll surely be excited to run in the footsteps of the pros!  It’s also a great way for them to burn off some energy after sitting still for so long.
